His father is a doctor. His uncle and three cousins are doctors. And yet, Ben Tedesco broke with tradition (and escaped the harsh Arizona desert) to become an award-winning director in Venice Beach, CA, where life is much more enjoyable and a lot less beige.
In 2013, after spending 8 years working up the commercial production ladder, Ben was at a crossroads. He crammed all of his belongings into a 5’x10’ storage unit and set off on a soul-searching extended trek through Europe. Ben returned to the States several months later, determined to become a director.
Within six weeks of his return, Ben had shot spec spots for Campbell’s and Chevy. Titled “Spaceship,” the Chevy work took Ben to Cannes, where he won two MoFilm Awards and rubbed elbows with some of the Industry’s finest. The spot, which he conceived, produced and financed, captured the attention of Chevy itself. The brand aired “Spaceship” nationally in the Fall of 2013.
Ben’s work has been described as nostalgic and captivating. He considers himself a storyteller first and foremost. He enjoys comic books, wood-working, McDonald’s vanilla ice cream cones and spending time with his pet Beagle and muse, Fisher.
